Exterior LightingWhen planned and installed properly, exterior lighting provides a stunning beauty to your home after dark and gives the benefit of added security.
There is a wide variety of outside lights that you can purchase, from basic wall lights to lamp posts in your garden, so it is advisable to do some homework before deciding which lights will work best for you. Choosing the right type of light will improve the looks as well as the value of your property, not to mention help to keep any potential intruders at bay. |
Security lights typically have an integrated passive infrared sensor (PIR) which switches the light on when it detects heat from a body moving passed it (whether human or critter), or alternatively they can have a photocell which will switch the light on at dusk. The sensitivity of the PIR can be adjustable, whereas the photocell will keep the light on all night until morning. A timer will permit the home-owner to set when lights come on and go off at pre-set times, and as an extension to that a control unit box that can switch on your lights at various times during the night to make it look like your home. These can also be installed on your inside lights as well.
