Steve Lavender is the owner and operator of Lavender Electrical, and has a passion for all things electrical. After leaving school, Steve began his electrical career as an apprentice with S. J. Dark Limited, a well established local Torbay electrical company. While under their careful and diligent guidance, Steve gained invaluable experience in many types of installation, including domestic wiring, nurse call systems and fire alarms. From 1986-1987, Steve passed his 2361 and 2362 Electrical Installation City and Guilds exams. He left S. J. Dark soon after and embarked on a contract based spell of employment that was to span a period of ten years, mostly working away from home and travelling around the country.

Steve's accomplishments while 'on the road' included complex installations in superstores, car showrooms (such as Landrover) and even a multiplex cinema in Sheffield, and he gained significant experience and a renowned reputation of success in the retail sector using metal trunking, conduit and mineral cables.
After ten years, Steve decided he wanted to bring his work home to the Torbay area, and took the opportunity to upgrade his qualifications, first by successfully taking his 2391 Test and Inspect exam, and then getting his IPAF ticket which enabled him to work at height using mobile lifting appliances. In 2011, with twenty five years of experience and an excellent reputation established over a highly successful career, Steve became self-employed. Fire alarm systems at Torbay Hospital were added to his now extensive portfolio, whilst at the same time working separate private contracts to increase his client base. He has also maintained his regulations exams to the latest 17th edition with amendment 3 and his Test and Inspection certificates - which means that all his work is done to the highest standards of quality and safety. In addition, Steve has also joined NAPIT as a registered tradesperson and is also a member of the Government endorsed Trustmark scheme. Steve thoroughly enjoys his work, and his pride in the product he provides has gained him high regard and an enviable reputation in both the residential and commercial sectors. He has great respect for the environment in which he operates, including attention to detail, tidiness, and above all, safety. |
